NP SoftTech Shopify FAQ
Shopify sections
What is the difference between a Shopify section and a Shopify block?
A section is a full row on a template. A block sits inside a section, often on the product page next to price or Add to cart. NP SoftTech sells both, labelled on each product.
Who this answer is for
Shopify developers and theme engineers adding Liquid sections with Shopify CLI or Edit code.
How NP SoftTech approaches it
Pick a section for homepage or landing patterns. Pick a block when the content must sit inside the product buy column.
Sections
Watch Video & Buy, Before/After, WhatsApp button and Announcement bar are sections.
Blocks
Offer block, trust badges and size guide sit on product or cart templates.
Same checkout
Pay once, files emailed, one live store license.
Same install path
Liquid file, then Customize.
Why the distinction matters
Merchants search for both "Shopify section" and "Shopify block". Putting offer copy inside a product section needs a block. A homepage video row needs a section.
Theme editor
Blocks appear when the parent section schema allows them. Product templates in Dawn are the usual home for PDP blocks.
Custom work
If you need a block inside a third-party section you do not control, that may need a custom build.
Common mistakes to avoid
Buying a section when you needed a PDP block
An offer next to Add to cart is a block job, not a full-width homepage section.
Expecting blocks in checkout
Checkout is not a theme block area.
Practical next step
A general answer is only the starting point.
Open the Shopify sections catalog or the product page you need. For a pattern that is not listed, share the page URL and the job it must do.
