Most stores do not need a new theme to lift conversion. They need fewer unclear moments between landing and checkout. Use this checklist before you spend on a redesign.
Open your top product page on a phone. Can a new shopper answer price, options, delivery and return policy without hunting?
| Priority | Fix | Why it matters |
|---|---|---|
| 1 | Offer clarity above the fold | Paid traffic needs an instant answer |
| 2 | Variant state sync | Broken price/media kills trust |
| 3 | Trust near buy | Mobile shoppers will not hunt policies |
| 4 | App overlap | Competing widgets raise friction |
| 5 | Mobile conversion measure | Desktop-only wins are not store wins |
1. Clarify the offer above the fold
State what the product is, who it is for and what makes it different near the primary CTA. Vague headlines waste paid traffic.
2. Fix variant state before UI polish
Price, media, availability and CTA must stay in sync when shoppers change size, metal or pack. Broken variant state kills trust faster than a dated layout.
3. Put trust where decisions happen
Reviews, delivery windows and returns belong near the buy button on mobile, not only in a distant footer accordion.
4. Cut PDP app overlap
If two apps inject upsells, timers or sticky bars, remove one. Competing widgets raise friction and hurt Core Web Vitals.
5. Measure mobile conversion first
Capture mobile add-to-cart and checkout start rates before changes. Re-check after. Desktop-only wins are not a store win.
- Offer and CTA clarity
- Variant and inventory honesty
- Trust near purchase
- Script and app budget
- Checkout payment reliability
We run this checklist on store reviews for brands and agencies. If several boxes fail, fix those before commissioning a redesign.
