Shopify store design fails when the homepage looks finished and the product page is still the theme default. Use this checklist before you approve a design or start development.

Quick answer

Design the path shoppers actually use: collection, product, cart, then homepage. Write the sections the theme must have. Then build them.

Homepage

  • One clear offer above the fold on a phone
  • A path into best sellers or a key collection
  • Proof that matches the brand, not a generic icon row
  • No slider that hides the first product

Collection and product pages

  • Filters match how customers name the products
  • Price, variant and delivery promise are visible without hunting
  • Size, material or comparison help sits on the page, not in a buried tab
  • Trust and offer sit near add to cart

Section ideas: product page sections and trust badges.

Hand off into a build

A design file that ignores Online Store 2.0 becomes expensive custom code. Ask which parts are theme settings and which parts are custom sections. Brands in the United States, Australia, New Zealand, Europe and India can use the same checklist. Localise shipping and payment notes after the structure is right.

If the current store already fights the catalogue, look at a redesign and then monthly maintenance so the new layout stays intact.
