A Shopify discount code that is not applying is almost always a rule, not a broken store. The code exists. The cart does not qualify, or another offer already used the one combination Shopify allows.
Open the discount. Check active dates, the products it includes, minimum quantity or spend, customer eligibility, and whether it can combine with the automatic discount already on the cart.
What to compare against the cart
- The variant in the cart is actually in the discount collection
- Compare-at price and an automatic sale are not both trying to stack
- The code was not limited to a customer segment or a first order
- The sales channel includes Online Store, not only POS
Shoppers who hit this wall often leave. That shows up as checkout drop-off.
When you want the offer on the product page
A code field at checkout is a poor way to explain a deal. An offer next to the buy button is a design and section job. See offer block sections and Shopify store design if the promotion is invisible until the last step.
Send the code, a product URL and what the cart contains. We can trace the rule.
