Shopify checkout drop-off is usually a store problem that shows up at the last step. People add a product, see shipping, tax or a confusing cart, and leave. Buying more traffic does not fix that path.
Check shipping rates, guest checkout, discount errors and the product page on a phone. Then remove apps that inject fields into the cart. Checkout code is rarely the first fix on a standard Shopify plan.
Check these in order
- Product page: price, variant and delivery promise visible without scrolling past a gallery on mobile
- Cart: one clear next step, no competing popups
- Shipping: a rate that matches what the product page promised
- Discounts: a code that actually applies. See discount not applying
- Apps: one review, one upsell, not five scripts. See when an app breaks add to cart
If mobile traffic adds to cart and never reaches checkout, read why mobile visitors do not buy.
When you need development, not another setting
Theme sections, cart drawers and custom line-item logic are Shopify store development. A layout that hides the offer is store design. After the path is stable, monthly maintenance keeps the next app install from undoing it.
Send the store URL and the step where people leave. Request a store review.
