Transferring a domain to Hostinger means Hostinger becomes the registrar you renew with. Your website files do not magically move. Email does not magically move. You are changing who holds the name.

Quick answer

Confirm you are past the 60-day lock, the domain is active, and DNSSEC is off. Unlock, copy the EPP code, start the transfer at Hostinger, pay, choose nameservers, confirm the email. Wait. Then check the site and mail.

Domain moving from one registrar to Hostinger while the website stays on its host
The name moves. The site only moves if you change DNS on purpose.

Check before you pay

Hostinger’s article asks you to confirm ownership, that 60 days have passed since registration or the last transfer, that the domain is active and not in redemption, that you have a valid EPP or auth code, and that DNSSEC is disabled. They also suggest starting with at least seven days left before expiry, and they warn that a transfer too soon after a renewal can sit in an auto-renew grace period so the extra year does not land as you expect. Recheck their live page if your renewal was recent.

ICANN describes the same 60-day idea after registration and after some registrant contact changes.

The Hostinger steps

Unlock at the old registrar. Open Hostinger’s transfer page or hPanel → Domains → Transfers. Enter the domain, pay, paste the EPP code. Choose whether to keep current nameservers or switch to Hostinger’s. Hostinger notes that nameservers lock during the transfer, so that choice matters if the site must keep working. Confirm the email the old registrar or registry sends. Do not ignore that mail.

Status meanings: transfer statuses. Some country TLDs need extra actions. .uk is the IPS-tag path, not a generic EPP story.

After it lands

Check who owns the name in hPanel. Check the website and inbox. If email lived at another host, do not switch nameservers without MX records. What a name is versus hosting: domain vs hosting. What happens if you let it lapse: when a domain expires.
