AI search is changing business websites in a boring way. Some visitors never see your layout. They see a paragraph that may mention you, or a competitor, or a guess. The site still has to exist as the source. The homepage slogan is not enough.

Definitions: SEO vs AEO vs GEO and SEO vs AI search. What to do: visible in AI search.

Quick answer

Keep ranking work for Google. Add pages that state facts in plain sentences. Treat chat answers as unstable. Do not rebuild the brand around a prompt screenshot.

Search results and an AI summary both pointing at the same business website
Two packages. One source, if you wrote it down.

What actually changed

People still type and still tap links. Some products now write a longer answer first. Google has been testing and shipping AI-shaped results. ChatGPT and others answer shopping and “who can do X” questions. Features move. We will not freeze a 2026 menu as if it were law. Check the product you care about.

The practical change on your site: a vague “we deliver excellence” block gives a model nothing to cite. A service page with area, process and limits does.

Old habit What AI-shaped answers punish
Slogan homepage Nothing to quote
Fifty similar blog posts Noise, easy to skip
Facts only on Instagram See website vs Instagram
Contact only in a PDF The model never reads the PDF you emailed

What did not change

You still need a domain, hosting, HTTPS and a form that works. Create a business website. You still need Google-facing titles: optimize for Google Search.
