Shopify’s India site publishes rupee prices. Those numbers are the subscription, not the full cost of selling. You still pay GST, a payment gateway and Shopify’s third-party fee on most prepaid orders. Theme work is a different invoice.

Quick answer

Most new shops start on Basic. Upgrade when staff seats, reports or the third-party fee save more than the extra subscription. Model selling fees on your expected prepaid volume. Do not pick Advanced because the name sounds serious.

The fee India stores pay on top of the gateway

When you do not use Shopify Payments, Shopify charges a third-party transaction fee. Shopify’s help centre says the rate depends on the plan. On the official India POS pricing page at review time, third-party payment provider fees showed 2% on Basic, 1% on Grow and 0.6% on Advanced. Recheck that line. It can change.

Your gateway still charges its own rate. NP SoftTech partners for Razorpay, Cashfree and PhonePe. We do not publish their current MDR here because those contracts differ. Ask the gateway for a written rate card.

Manual methods such as COD are treated differently from card or UPI through a gateway. Do not assume the third-party fee applies to every rupee of GMV. Check Shopify’s current billing help for your payment types.

Which plan is enough

Basic is enough for a founder, a standard theme and a first catalogue. Grow is the usual step when you need more staff accounts or you are paying enough third-party fee that 1% beats 2% on real prepaid volume. Advanced is for stores that actually use the extra reports, markets or checkout options. Plus is a sales conversation, not a website add-to-cart.

Do the arithmetic on your prepaid sales, not on a blog’s “upgrade at Rs.4 lakh” rule. Your COD mix changes the break-even.

If this is true Look at
First store, one operator, standard theme Basic
Team logins or the 2% fee is getting loud Grow, after you do the maths
You need Advanced-only reports or markets Advanced, for those features, not the logo
Complex B2B or high volume Plus, scoped with Shopify

What this page does not price

Themes, apps, photos and developer time sit in how much it costs to build a Shopify store in India. How the platform works is in what Shopify is. Hostinger is not a cheaper Shopify plan. It is a different product. See Hostinger vs Shopify if you are mixing those two tabs.
