Web hosting is renting space on a computer that stays online and sends your website to visitors. When someone types your domain, their browser asks that computer for the files. If nobody is renting that computer for you, there is no website to show, even if you own the name.
That is the whole idea. The rest is plan names.
Buy hosting for a business website, WordPress site or custom PHP site. Do not buy hosting to “run Shopify”. Shopify already includes shop hosting. Hostinger is one host we partner with for ordinary sites.

How a visit works
You register a domain. You set DNS records that point that name at your host’s address. The host stores HTML, images, and whatever software you run (WordPress, PHP, a builder). HTTPS wraps the trip so the browser does not complain. None of this requires you to own a rack of machines in your office.

What hosting is not
It is not the domain. It is not the design. It is not Shopify. Shopify’s own help says shop hosting is included with the plan. Putting a Shopify store “on Hostinger” is a misunderstanding we keep seeing. You can still use Hostinger for a marketing site beside the shop.
Hostinger also sells website builders and has a separate ecommerce product. Those are not the same as a Shopify D2C store. Hostinger vs Shopify keeps the products apart.
