A Shopify product page ranks when it is the clearest public page for that item. That is a writing and structure job. It is not a new SEO app. If the first screen cannot say what the product is, the rest of the optimisation is decoration.

For store-wide titles and collections, use the SEO checklist. For conversion mistakes that look like SEO, use product page mistakes and the PDP checklist.

Quick answer

Write a human title, a short handle, visible facts (material, size, what is included) and compressed images with honest alt text. Add shipping and return lines a person would trust. Then link the product from the right collection. Do not stuff the brand name into every heading.

Title, handle and search listing

The product title is the H1 on most themes. Use the name a shopper would type, then a qualifier that is true (material, use, size system). “AJ-4412-GLD” helps the warehouse. It does not help search.

The URL handle should be short. Shopify will not invent a better one later without a redirect. Open Search engine listing preview on the product. Write a meta description that states the item and a concrete detail. Do not repeat the title three times.

Body copy that can be indexed

Answer: what it is, who it is for, what is in the box, materials, care, and what happens after they pay. Put facts in sentences, not only in a spec table the theme hides on mobile.

If you used an AI draft, delete the sentences that would fit a competitor’s product. Keep numbers you can defend. Thin AI pages do not help AI search either.

Example (labelled as an example, not a client page):

Before: “Experience premium quality crafted for your lifestyle with our stunning design.”

After: “14k gold hoop earrings, 20 mm inner diameter, latch closure, sold as a pair. Weight is listed on the spec line. Ships from Mumbai in 3 to 5 working days on prepaid orders.”

Images, alt text and variants

Compress before upload. The first image should not be lazy-loaded. Alt text describes the photo: “Gold hoop earrings, 20 mm, on a white background.” It is not a keyword list.

Each variant that shoppers search as a separate item needs a clear option name. If colour and size change the photos, the media should follow the variant. Broken variant media is a conversion bug that also wastes the page.

Field Job
Title Name the product the way people search
Handle Stable, readable URL
Description Facts a shopper can check
Media + alt Show the item, describe the image
Metafields (if rendered) Specs that stay visible on the page
Collection + related Internal links a person would click

Reviews add unique sentences. One app is enough. Product schema should match the visible name and price. Two Product graphs from a theme plus an SEO app is a technical mess. See the technical SEO checklist.

Link the product from the collection that actually contains it. From a guide, link to the product you mentioned, not to the homepage. Related products should be related.

Speed still counts. A heavy reviews widget plus an autoplay video will bury the text you wrote. Pair this with store speed.

Product templates that hide the facts?
